HTX has developed reporter-based screening systems combined with a high-throughput platform that permit the discovery of new antifungal compounds which specifically and highly efficient act on the fungal cell wall.
The structure of fungal cell walls is unique, having a composition that is not present in other life forms. Therefore, the advantage of our technology is the straight approach to identify compounds that efficiently inhibit fungal growth but (unlike currently available ones) do not cause any detrimental effects on humans, animals and plants.
HTX has also developed a high-throughput screening method to discover new antibacterial compounds that inhibit the formation and/or destroy biofilms.
Bacterial biofilms inhibit/prevent the action of antibacterial compounds making fighting of bacterial contaminations and infections very difficult or even impossible.
